This unique workshop is crafted to provide the LGBTQIA+ community and allies with a welcoming space to explore emotions, identity, and personal expression through the therapeutic practice of painting.
Workshop Overview
Creative Expression Through Painting invites participants to engage in the meditative, expressive power of painting, designed not as a technical class but as a journey into emotional exploration and mental wellness. Research has shown that creative practices like painting can reduce stress, enhance self-awareness, and build emotional resilience. This series will support participants in connecting with their inner selves and fostering social connections within a safe, inclusive environment. Each session encourages self-expression and well-being, benefiting both individuals and the wider community.
What to Expect:
Expressive Freedom: Each session provides opportunities for free painting, guided themes, and collaborative projects.
Community Connection: Workshops conclude with group discussions, allowing participants to share their thoughts and creative journeys.
Guidance from a Skilled Facilitator: Aida Akoury, founder of Fluid Art and Wellness Lisboa, brings a wealth of experience in art therapy and psychology, creating a nurturing environment for participants to grow and reflect.

Cost: €20 per session, inclusive of all materials. Payment to be completed after the registration below.
Location: Aconchego Association facilities.
Schedule: Weekly on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
Weekly Themes
Each week will focus on a different theme that resonates with the LGBTQIA+ experience, including Queer Identity, Self-Love, Belonging, and Community Resilience. From painting skies of Lisbon to exploring narratives of pride and empowerment, these themes will inspire participants to find their unique voices.

Aida Akoury specializes in using art as a means of emotional expression and community healing. With a background in Clinical Psychology, Art Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Aida brings a compassionate and inclusive approach to each session. Fluent in multiple languages and culturally attuned, she uses her experience to foster creativity and build supportive spaces for artistic exploration and self-reflection.
